The Special Crimes Unit comes to help solve the mystery but Jonah is the one who makes sense out of things. The characters were well written; Crichton put emotions and feelings into real people who are now long gone. Wise presents the singular life of William Alexander Percy (1885-1942), a queer plantation owner, poet, and memoirist from Mississippi. I had little trouble understanding the slang, so I would not be put off by that critique. We talked the whole way. ch 12: Algebra and Graphing.
