Reading this book with Chicago places and names is frankly like a sentimental trip home. Upon her death, Elsa comes into the possession of a compendium of letters. The book, as narrative, is a pleasure to read, the wonderful theme and message aside. As for the other features of this edition, the critical apparatus (comparing differences in various editions that appeared within Dickens' lifetime) is unlikely to interest anyone other than specialists, but there are other, more helpful features for the general reader. Like the king, children will find themselves enchanted by every tale.
