I often ask younger engineers what happens when the power goes out to their laptop or the batteries in their calculator (capable of performing symbolic algebraic computation) goes out. I am a great fan of Fiendish Deeds (The Joy of Spooking), the first book in this series. Whoever produces the book should come up with a better way. Qualities like kindness and cooperation are getting a lot of attention in schools today (and are on the list), but the other qualities like courage, concentration, peacefulness, willingness, will-power and service (to name a few) really complete the picture of a joyful, well-rounded child. I absolutely recommend this collection of poetry.
